Coolidge Corner Arts Festival Celebrates 33rd Anniversary

Brookline, MA - On June 4th, 2011 more than eighty crafts people and fine artists will show and sell their work at the 33rd Annual Coolidge Corner Arts Festival from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. at the Devotion School grounds at 345 Harvard Street. This free public showcase for the arts will feature nationally recognized artists as well as accomplished and emerging artists from New England working in an array of media, from jewelry, fiber, glass, ceramics to photography, watercolor and mixed media.

The Coolidge Corner Arts Festival is pleased to announce Tami Rodrig as this year's winner of the 2011 Susan Lichter Jury Prize, in memory of our beloved committee member. Tami's work best exemplifies the highest level of both art and craft as well as embodies Susan's spirit. Tami's pieces are being featured in all 2011 CCAF promotion materials. Continuing this year is a partnership with the 4th Annual Brookline Food Festival also happening at Devotion School from noon - 4 p.m., which will serve up bites by local Brookline restaurants such as The Fireplace and Zaftigs. Each restaurant will have its own area with tasting portions of up to three items. Tasting tickets will be sold at a central location for $2 each. Net proceeds will be donated to the Brookline Food Pantry.

The Arts Festival is coordinated and juried by a group of dedicated Coolidge Corner merchants and business people including Sue Stein, owner of Fire Opal, Lea Cohen of Hammond Residential Real Estate and former owner of the Stone's Throw gallery; Lisa Clark, manager at Brookline Bank, and Mike Kerstein, owner of Simons Shoes.

"The Devotion School is a great location for both the artist and the public and we are excited about our collaboration with the Food Festival," says Stein. "The Devotion School grounds are spacious and many artists will set up on the grass so it s easy to navigate and see the artists."

The Devotion School is located adjacent to the restaurant Zaftigs. The event is accessible by the "C" line to Coolidge Corner and the #66 bus.
